Barriers For Not Getting Help
Embarrassed:
You could be embarrassed about the bullying, orr the way they are bullying you. You could be embarrassed because you know they are going to ask you how you know these people online (some dating site etc.). Maybe they will contact your parents because you haven't told them about the bullying. So they would be asking all sorts of questions why you didn't tell them.
Threatened By the Bully or Bullies:
You could have being threatened by the bully or bullies. They would say that if you told anyone they would beat you up everyday after school. They could have being threatened that they would start a really bad rumour about you. If they are cyber bullying you they could post a picture of you all over the internet that is really embarrassing.
Limited Internet Access:
You may not have much internet access at home or at school. This means that you can't research about bullying and how to stop it. Not just that, but it stops you accessing the online help and forces you to call for help. Then you can't use the online counsellors and mentors that can help you get through your problems. If you are one of those people that don't want the person knowing who you are, you have a problem.
Not enough money:
If you don't have enough money to get a counsellor then you can only use the online help. Also if you don't have any money to keep calling the helplines then you can only use the online help again. So if you don't have enough money you have a problem and that limits you from getting extra help.
How to Over Come Those Barriers
Embarrassed:
By realising that you can never get help if you are embarrassed. Perhaps you could open out and tell people even though it might be embarrassing. They will help you. You need to know that if you tell your parents, they can help you with the bullying, or by knowing the way they are bullying you, they can help you to say no.
Threatened:
To know that if you don't say or do anything it can only get worse and it will make you hate your life more. So whatever they have threatened you with, it isn't worth not telling someone. It is the most important thing to speak out and tell others. You have to show the bully who's boss and that they have no right to bully you. Plus after you talk to someone they will give you ways to help the bullying. If it is a teacher they can watch the bully to make sure that they don't hurt you. But if you don't talk it will only get worse.
No internet access:
You could go to your local library. Libraries always have free wifi. You could even go to Mc Donald's they have free wifi. You could also use one of the computers at school.
Not Enough Money
Ask your parents for money or ask them to take you to a therapist. You could perhaps ask your friend to use their phone. You could even use your home phone if your parents let you. You could pray to get more money. Ask your parents for a few dollars and go to a phone box.
