Positive Coping Strategies:
Teacher:
You can go and talk to a teacher that you trust. Teachers can help you figure out ways to stop the bullying getting to you. Also remember teachers have probably being through a situation like you are in. A teacher can check up on you everyday that you are at school and if anything bad happens you can just go to them. The teachers can also watch the bully or bullies and keep an eye on them.
Parent:
Your parent would help you cope because they are with you everyday. Also they have probably being through something like this as well. To talk to your parents is sometimes easier than talking to a teacher for example. Your parent could then go talk to a doctor or another mental expert to find out strategies to help you.
Helpline:
Calling a place such as a helpline is a positive coping strategy because these places help people who are getting bullied. You would call a help line when you are too scared to talk to your parents and you can't trust a teacher. A helpline is a great thing because these people have researched coping strategies and ways to stop the bullying. Also it is a good thing because the people at the helpline deal with these types of situations all the time so they know what they are doing.
Negative Coping Strategies:
Cutting
Cutting is a negative coping strategy. People cut because they are in so much pain (physically & mentally) that they cut. This is because it makes them feel better. Cutting is a bad thing and you should never do it. It could kill you. Even if you are in so much pain, talk to people don't start cutting. It isn't worth it!
Missing School:
Missing school or faking sickness is not going to stop the bullying. It will probably make it worse because they will think you are even weaker than you are. Also this puts you behind in your school work because you are missing heaps of days of school.
Taking Drugs & Alcohol:
Taking drugs and alcohol aren't going to stop the bullying. Yes it might make you forget for half an hour but in the end it is worth nothing. You would probably get addicted and that could lead to death. Rather than taking drugs or alcohol you could go and try yoga for example to learn how to empty your mind. Don't think you would be bullied more for doing that because they don't have to know. Also you would rather let people find out that you are going to yoga then people find out you are dying.
